Building Capability for Improvement
A central aim of the South West Patient Safety Collaborative (SW PSC) is to develop the patient safety and improvement capability of health and social care teams across the region.
In delivering this objective the SW PSC and the South West Academic Health Science Network deliver Quality Improvement (QI) and Patient Safety training throughout the year at all levels across the health and social care system.
Over the past two years the SW AHSN has commissioned the Institute for Healthcare Improvement to deliver their Patient Safety Officer Training programmes that equip frontline staff with the skills they need to improve quality of care and safety for patients.
Our Improvement Team have now developed their own teaching faculty and their own QI training programme. In all of our programmes we seek to offer the following benefits:
- Support participants to develop actionable strategies, skills and practical tools that they need to become leaders of strong, effective patient safety programmes.
- Offering the chance to work with an expert faculty to develop or refine detailed, customised strategies and implementation plans.
- Providing insight into how to co-ordinate plans with the support of the senior leadership from with organisations.
Our latest programme, called the Patient Safety and QI Launch Pad, launches this year and is aimed at supporting health and social care professionals improve the quality of care and safety for patients.
