Health Service Modelling Associates (HSMA) 2018 Final Seminar
December 5 at 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
The Health Service Modelling Associates (HSMA) Programme 2018, a joint initiative between PenCLAHRC and the South West Academic Health Science Network, involves a number of NHS staff from across the region being released for a day a week for a year to undertake a modelling project for their organisation. Each HSMA receives training and ongoing mentoring from PenCLAHRC, and is supported to develop and deliver impactful projects that can lead to real change for their organisations, and to develop skills that can be embedded in their organisations in the future.
Complementary lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided.
To find out more about the programme and the HSMAs’ work, please visit our web page.
At this event, our HSMAs will present the work they have been undertaking over the last year, which includes :
- using computer simulation to reduce delays in glaucoma and spinal treatment, improve ambulance response times, reduce delays to discharge from hospital, and assess demand for stroke beds
- using Artificial Intelligence to explore whether a machine can learn when it is appropriate not to send an ambulance and which surgical operations should be cancelled
- using whole systems modelling to understand how patient health needs increase the longer they spend in hospital and how healthcare assessment backlogs can best be cleared.
There will also be a presentation on a new project which is using Artificial Intelligence to predict whether an Emergency Department will breach the four hour target within the next two hours, combined with a simulation model to understand how to get the hospital back on track.
You can register online now.
The seminar is free to attend, but registration is mandatory. If you have any queries regarding this event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
